My (realistic) Goals for Quarantine

Anyone else feel like if they see one more toxic post about productivity in quarantine they're going to instantly vomit?

same.

This time is uncertain and troubling for almost everyone, so I want to start this off saying you are not obligated to have "goals" for quarantine. For many of us, this time is just about survival, and that is completely valid and okay.

Having goals has always been helpful for me, and this situation is no different. It was important to me, however, that I make goals that are reasonable and helpful, not sources of pressure. And this is what I ended up with.

Make My Bed Everyday

I just find that making my bed and maybe tidying my room up a little bit makes my day start off better. I just do it before I go down for breakfast and it only takes about 30 seconds, so it's one of my easiest chores.

Get Creative

I'm one of those people that has a list a mile long of different crafts I want to do. Fortunately, our current situation has given me the time to be able to do some of these crafts. I've been blogging, drawing, making bracelets, and I have so many more ideas to go.

Spend quality time with my dog and my family

I am getting older, and I don't spend nearly as much time with my family as I used to.

Since we are all at home more now, it's the perfect time for me to get to spend time with everyone. We do game nights and family movie nights fairly often. We have great laughs, and I'm grateful I get to spend this time with them.

Read new books!

Since I've been able to get through almost all the shows on my Netflix, I want to read more awesome books. I have a few on my list but the next one I'd like to read is called Radical Spirits Ann Braude.

Spend time in nature

I'm very fortunate to live in a place where I can easily go on walks, and places nearby for hikes. I try to go on walks at least once a day, just to get some fresh air, give Baxter some exercise, and to just enjoy being out of the house.

Try new recipes

I love food (who doesn't?), and I was so excited to be able to make my own food once I came home. Since I'm home pretty much 24/7, I definitely want to make some cool quarantine eats. I've already made whipped coffee, and a microwave brownie. I have so many more cool ideas.

Be gentle with myself

I am incredibly lucky and grateful that my life remains relatively normal compared to some of my peers. However, I still need to gentle with myself, and understand that this is not normal, that it is stressful, and it's okay to have days that are off, or just plain bad. That's just how it goes sometimes.

Thank you so much for reading, stay safe!

Maddy
